Three people were dealt with for drug offences this morning following a police crackdown at Twickenham Station tackling knife crime and antisocial behaviour.

The station is used by students attending Richmond College, where a student was fatally stabbed last year.

The College authorities have been involved in their own security measures as well as extensive efforts to offer reassurance to students.

Police officers used knife arches along with stop and search as part of the crackdown.

British Transport Police said: "Richmond Proactive Team collaborated with MPS Twickenham and South Western Railways at Twickenham Station this morning tackling ASB an knife crime for Operation Valve.

"Three persons were dealt with for drugs offences. This activity was conducted in order to disrupt and deter offences, ensuring passengers feel safe."
