Funding is being made available for neighbours looking to put the pandemic and lockdown behind them with sponsored street parties that are coming to Twickenham.

The first such event saw neighbours in Crane Road coming together in for a street party season in style with a gathering that included everything from face painting to a drum circle.

The day, which has set the template for future events, was even topped off by a street wide paint fight that left the battle arena a multi-coloured mess.

The event was financed in part by Nub News sponsors, Bartlett & Partners, who helped fund some of these fun activities and kept the day festive with their balloons.

The Crane Road Street Party has been running in some capacity for the past 12 years with an understandable break over the last two years due to pandemic restrictions.

This break left residents raring to go with one organiser saying: "It's such a great opportunity to get everyone out particularly after lockdown and getting businesses involved to help us organise some activities has worked really well.

"Organising things with people like this makes it all so easy... fantastic!"

Face painting was the star attraction of the event with the street transforming into a jungle as it was populated with small lions, tigers and bears.

There were also five drum workshops held throughout the day helmed by a music therapist who works with special needs children in musical development.

Darren Bartlett said: "Being part of the community that we work in is integral to what we do. Living in the area, we believe in giving back to the people that we work with for mutual benefit.

"If you are thinking of arranging a similar event, we would love to hear from you!"
