Finance Manager - About The Role
Howett Thorpe are delighted to be partnering with an established and successful group to recruit a Finance Manager into its London-based finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is comfortable operating at Finance Manager level today but is looking for a role that can genuinely develop with them over the coming years.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of a broad finance remit spanning management accounting, financial control, transactional oversight and team development. Importantly, this is not simply a role focused on maintaining existing processes. The business is looking for someone who will gradually put their own identity on the position, challenge how things are currently done and help shape the future direction of the finance function.
There will be particular emphasis on change and transformation, including improving processes, increasing automation and exploring how AI and developing technology can be incorporated into day-to-day finance activity to improve efficiency, accuracy and insight.
For someone with the right ambition and capability, there is also a clear longer-term route towards the Head of Finance position, making this particularly attractive to somebody looking for their next step rather than simply their next job.
The client is happy to consider both fully qualified accountants and strong finalist candidates who are approaching completion of their professional qualification, providing they can demonstrate the technical grounding, confidence and ambition required to grow into the role.
Finance Manager - About You
You will ideally be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, although candidates at the final stages of their professional studies will also be strongly considered.
You are likely to be someone who already has a solid grounding across management accounting and financial control and is now looking for broader responsibility, greater visibility and the opportunity to influence how a finance function develops. You will be:
- Comfortable taking ownership of month-end and management reporting
- Strong across balance sheet control, reconciliations and financial governance
- Confident overseeing transactional finance and reviewing the quality of work produced
- Able to manage, support and develop a junior member of the finance team
- Interested in process improvement, systems, automation and emerging finance technology
- Comfortable questioning existing processes and identifying better ways of working
- Commercially minded and able to communicate confidently with non-finance stakeholders
- Ambitious, with the appetite to take on increasing responsibility as the role develops
- Someone who wants to shape a role rather than simply inherit one
- Qualified or finalist stage of your active qualification status
