My Gym was created out of a passion for teaching children in a fun and physically engaging environment, with now over 40 years of operation and more than 700 locations worldwide – including Richmond.

The local branch offers classes for children from three month to 10 years of age. Some classes provide parents with the opportunity to participate alongside their children, while others allow them to observe from the sidelines.

Among the many My Gym classes are Little Bundles, where students from the ages of three to six months begin their first visual, audial and spatial exploration, while their parents are guided through a programme designed to carefully introduce music and movement in a variety of fun ways.

While Ninja Training, for children between four and a half to 10 and a half, are designed to develop strength, stamina, and agility. These sessions are designed to be fun, challenging, safe and noncompetitive.

When asked what sets My Gym apart from other children's gymnastics centres, Kerry, the Fitness Manager at My Gym Richmond, believes it is the non-competitive environment.

She told Nub News: "At some gymnastics academies the children have to be able to do this at this age or they have to be able to do a certain skill to be able to move up to a certain level.

"But here we just encourage children to have fun and grow at their own pace."

Alongside a welcoming atmosphere for children to learn and grow, My Gym Richmond always keeps it fresh with its range of classes which students and parents appreciate.

"I think a lot of people don't expect how much variety we have in our classes," added Kerry. "They are only 50 minutes, but we fit in so much from swings, puppet shows, songs, dances and games."

The classes at My Gym Richmond are made possible by its team of seven staff which are always there supporting sessions and children individually if need be.

My Gym Richmond Teacher, Lola, said: "I used to work with children before, but mainly just volunteering at schools, but actually being able to be hands on with them and teach them skills that will help them in life, I think it's really rewarding and it's just so much fun."

On top of its classes, My Gym Richmond also offers events and birthday parties for children that are fully customisable. Kerry mentioned that they can even organise themed parties, such as one based on the popular video game Fortnite, if requested.

The Fitness Manager continued: "If someone just absolutely loves My Little Pony, then we'll make all of the games about My Little Pony, even though they're still My Gym games, we tailor them to anyone."
