Hello!

My name is Heather and I've been the regional editor of Richmond and Twickenham Nub News for coming up five months now!

It's about time I properly introduce myself and what better time to do it than on Christmas Day - my favourite day of the year!

I've lived in the borough for almost a year and a half now - after moving from beautiful North Devon to study for my NCTJ at News Associates, in Twickenham in September 2022.

Last year I lived in Whitton and this year I am living in Richmond - so I feel as though I'm getting to know the area more and more each day!

You can often find me tapping away on my laptop in a cute cafe! (Photo Credit: Heather Nicholls).

Before News Associates, I studied Criminology at Bath Spa University - unfortunately, the university experience was very much interrupted by the pandemic but living in Bath was amazing!

After News Associates, I spent some time freelancing at LBC and nannying for a lovely family in Teddington, which helped me to get to know the area more.

When I'm not running around Richmond and Twickenham finding stories you can find me tapping away on my laptop in a cute cafe (and drinking far far too many vanilla lattes).

In my free time I like exploring different areas of London (Columbia Road is a recent newfound love), reading, browsing bookshops and visiting art galleries and museums.

I also love going back to North Devon and spending time walking the South West Coast Path with my dog, Olive or visiting the stunning beaches with my family.

Covering the news, stories, and communities in this area has been a massive privilege and a huge learning curve so far- it's my first proper journalism job and every day is presenting itself with a new lesson or challenge!

Something I struggled with when moving to London was feeling as though there wasn't as much of a sense of community - how wrong was I!

Having the opportunity to immerse myself in the communities of Richmond and Twickenham has made me realise just how much community there is in every single corner of this area!

That's all from me - I can't wait to continue covering the news in Twickenham and Richmond in 2024!

I hope you all have a very happy Christmas and a happy new year!
