The NatWest branch in Twickenham's King Street is to close as part of a wider cull by finance giants that is speeding the death of traditional banking.
Residents have condemned the decision because the move will not only reduce access to services, such as paying in cheques and cash, but will also see the removal of free to use cash machines.
Bank branches across the borough have been removed in recent years as the finance industry pushes residents towards smartphone apps and online banking.
The cuts deliver enormous savings to the banks, while creating inconvenience for customers, including small businesses.
Separately, the closure of banks reduces footfall on the streets, which has a knock-on effect for nearby retailers.
A letter sent by the company reads: "Closing branches is always a difficult decision and not one that we ever take lightly."
It justifies the decision, saying: "The simple reason is that the way people bank has changes. This shift towards digital means millions of our customers now manage their money online.
"With fewer people going into branches, we've had to make some really tough choices. Which is why we will be closing our Twickenham branch on 19 May, 2022."
It advises customers who want to see bank staff face to face, that they should use the Richmond branch.
Resident @julie_twickers tweeted an image of the letter, adding: "Oh no… don't want to have to go to Richmond to pay in cheques & cash! Or be forced into using an App!"
Kevin Park wrote: "This is annoying. NatWest have the only reliable ATMs on the high street. HSBC and Barclays regularly out of service."
David Bertram added: "First all - all - the Teddington branches close. Now Twickenham."
