The Full of Life Fair this week brings together groups across the borough who specialise in helping residents get the best out of their old age.

Richmond borough has an aging population, which is a testament in part to the healthy lifestyles, exercise and eating habits of residents.

The free Full of Life Fair, which is being held at Twickenham Stadium on Friday, will feature over 70 stalls and activities run by local organisations, groups, charities, businesses and services.

On a serious note, the event offers a free financial advice seminar, tips to save energy and information on how to avoid cyber scams from the Metropolitan Police.

At the same time, there will be fun lifestyle events and workshops from Age UK, among others, offering everything from yoga to Nordic walking, Zumba, a community choir and even playing the ukulele.

The event is being hosted by Richmond Borough Council, which offers many specialist services for older residents.

Chair of the Council's Health and Wellbeing Board, Councillor Piers Allen, said: "Those attending will able to get advice from local professionals and voluntary groups about health, social care and technology to help them live independently and hear about opportunities to get involved with local community and activity groups, meet new people and particularly for those who have reached retirement age but are looking for ways to volunteer in their local area, the chance to chat with local groups and charities about volunteering opportunities and ways they can get involved if they're looking to give back to the community.

"I am particularly pleased the event will feature access to practical clinical health services including blood pressure checks, advice from community pharmacists, and COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, and ideas and activities to enable everyone to get more active.

"There will also be in-depth support available from local technology professionals to improve and learn new digital skills and discover what devices are available to support independent living."
