Following the successful revival of the Radio Plays competition last year Arts Richmond is relaunching its stage-based equivalent in 2024.

The group say the plan is for each competition to run biennially, alternating year-on-year.

The New Plays Festival, hosted at The Orange Tree Theatre, will be a celebration of original playwriting for the stage, with the shortlisted finalists being performed live, and the 'winner' selected, on Sunday 13th October.

Arts Richmond invites submissions from local writers, regardless of whether they are linked to affiliated drama societies.

It says: "Those submissions shortlisted as finalists will be brought to life by directors and actors from local groups, but the writer doesn't necessarily need to source their own creative team. If they can, great, but it's not a requirement."

The deadline for submissions is Friday 19th July, and further details, including the criteria for entries is available on our website: https://artsrichmond.org.uk/arts-richmond-events
