Bus strikes taking place today mean there is a reduced service on a number of Twickenham routes.

Drivers employed by London United, a subsidiary of RATP group, are striking over and changes to their contracts which they say could cost them £2,000 a year.

Another day of industrial action is planned for Thursday, April 15 next week.

Transport for London have advised bus users to allow more time for their journey and travel at quieter times of day on strike days.

"Where possible, consider walking or cycling to local destinations, or other transport alternatives. Santander cycles can be hired in Putney and Hammersmith for journeys into central London," TfL said.

It added: "RATP Dev London bus services in parts of west, south west and north west London and parts of Surrey are disrupted on Wednesday, April 7.

"TfL is working hard to minimise potential disruption but customers who need to make journeys are advised to check before they travel.

"Industrial action would affect services from 00:01 Wednesday 7 until 06:00 Thursday, April 8."

TfL also advise checking bus status updates for the latest information on your route.

Services will return to normal tomorrow.

The H22 and 33 are both running a reduced service. There is currently "no service" on the H37 between Richmond, East Twickenham and Hounslow.

Drivers represented by the trade union Unite say the £2,000 cut would result from changes French company RATP Group (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens) has proposed.

These include asking drivers to "log in" when they sit behind the wheel of a bus and log out at the end of their shift.

This would mean drivers wouldn't be paid during their breaks or while waiting for their bus to become available before switching with another driver.
