Italian restaurant closes after nearly three decades in Twickenham

Popular family-run Italian restaurant Caffè Del Mare closed last week after the property changed hands.
Restaurant Owner and Head Chef Domenico Brillante, from Italy, ran the eatery for 27 years.
Gradually becoming a favourite with locals, the cafe was a well-known part of Twickenham town centre.
In a notice to customers, the restaurant said: "Caffè Del Mare dal Corsaro has been sold, and unfortunately, due to short notice, we must close sooner than expected."
Located on 55 York Street, Caffe Del Mare has a 4.7-star average on Google Reviews, with customers citing "rustic charm" and "lovely pizzas".
The traditional restaurant was a hidden gem of Twickenham, with no website to promote its offerings. Nonetheless, it developed a following with its summer cocktails and freshly-made pasta.
The authentic Italian cuisine was complemented by an extensive wine list and a range of seasonal hot and cold coffees.
Although Caffè Del Mare has closed, the family that ran it will be cooking up a new plan.
Twickenham residents can still enjoy a range of other Italian restaurants locally, including Masaniello and Osteria Pulcinella.
