CW+, the charity supporting Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, has launched its Christmas appeal with a moving story from a West Middlesex University Hospital patient who says staff there "saved my life".
The appeal centres on Linda, a long-term patient and local resident who has been treated at West Mid multiple times over the past decade after being diagnosed with breast cancer twice and later cancer of the uterus.
Linda has spent many months in hospital during her treatment and recovery.

She says the care she received went far beyond clinical support: "Throughout my treatment and recovery, the staff were simply remarkable. They didn't just do their jobs – they carried me, with warmth and humanity, through an incredibly difficult time. They saved my life. That's the bottom line."
Linda has shared her story in a short film released as part of the campaign, encouraging the public to support CW+ and its work across the Trust.
CW+ funds a range of projects at West Middlesex University Hospital, including:
- Enhancements to the new Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre with up-to-date equipment and uplifting artwork
- Live music sessions on wards
- Creative activities for patients
- Art and design initiatives that improve clinical spaces
- Rest and recharge areas for hospital staff

Sarah McCullough, Director of Fundraising at CW+, said Linda's experience captures the purpose of the appeal: "Her story reflects exactly why our appeal matters.
"The generosity of our supporters enables us to transform hospital spaces, lift spirits and provide comfort during the most difficult times."
Residents can watch Linda's story and donate to the CW+ Christmas Appeal 2025 at www.cwplus.org.uk/appeals/christmas-appeal-2025/
