Crane Park Parkrun, in Twickenham, has issued thanks to the community after some of their equipment was stolen last week.

Equipment, including a defibrillator, mobile phones, and loudhailer went missing from the boot of a car and the discarded bags containing other equipment were found by local people in Isleworth.

One of these people picked the discarded bags up and stored them in their front garden until a member of the Parkrun team could collect them.

Parkrun is not allowed to run without a defibrillator so for their Saturday run they borrowed one from Moormead Parkrun but they soon realised that they would need to fundraise for a new defibrillator in order to keep the event going.

They asked for donations on Saturday afternoon and by Sunday morning they had received so many donations that they had to ask people to stop donating.

Ben, a volunteer at Crane Parkrun said: "It was amazing, people were so kind, they didn't have to do this donation.

"A lot of the donations are from the regular Crane Park runners who decided they wanted to do something to make a difference and keep the event running. It was really nice of them to do that."

He added: "The core ethos is that park run doesn't cost anything and that's a really good motto that we have but its also all about communities and we couldn't do anything without the volunteers and we couldn't have kept this event running without these donations so we really appreciate that people care enough to donate in such a manner.

"I would like to call out thanks to the members of the public who just called me up to say they found it. They didn't have to do that, they went out of their way to do that."
