A man has been taken to hospital following an alarming incident at Hampton Wick rail station this morning.

South Western Railway have warned of a disruption to services between Teddington and Kingston through until 3pm.

London Ambulance Service said: ""We were called today at 10.31am to reports of a person injured at Hampton Wick station.

"We sent a number of resources including an ambulance, a medic in a response car, an incident response officer, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team and London's air ambulance.

"We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre."

The police said: "British Transport Police were called to Hampton Wick station at 10.33am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital for treatment.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

The area affected includes those travelling between Wimbledon and Twickenham as well as passengers travelling to Norbiton, Hampton Wick and Strawberry Hill.

Via its Twitter account, South Western Railway has told passengers: "Your journey is likely to take longer and you may need to use a replacement bus to complete your journey. We will let you know when this changes...disruption to our services is expected until 3pm. As the investigations are ongoing this may change but we will let you know if it does."
