Summerland launches at the Mary Wallace Theatre this week

Since indoor venues have been allowed to reopen their doors we have seen a host of events going on throughout Twickenham and across the country.

Of course, yet again some events have been postponed and cancelled due to the government's announcement last Monday that it will further delay the easing of lockdown.

But you can still find all sorts of Covid-safe events going on, from concerts to plays to cooking classes to sporting events, on our newly revamped What's On section.

Our top pick for this week is this new show at the Mary Wallace Theatre, which is reopening again after 18 months!

The theatre on Twickenham riverside is re-opening with the biographical play Summerland by Arlitia Jones, and it will be the first time the play has been produced in Europe.

The play is based on the real life story of a New York spirit photographer who, in the aftermath of the American Civil War, offered grieving relatives the chance to be re-united with their departed loved ones by taking photographs 'beyond the vale' – Summerland.

The question is, was William Mumler savant or charlatan?

Join them from 26 June to 3 July and discover whether he brings genuine comfort to the bereaved or simply defrauds the vulnerable.

You can book tickets online or on 07484 927 662.

Find out more about the play here.
