Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a blaze at a house converted into flats on Cresswell Road, East Twickenham, yesterday evening (Monday 24 June).

The fire, which broke out in a ground floor flat, "completely destroyed" the floor but there were no reports of any injuries.

London Fire Brigade were called at 6:33pm, with crews from Richmond, Kingston, Hillingdon, and Chiswick fire stations responding.

The fire was brought under control by 7:22pm.

According to initial investigations by the Brigade, the fire is believed to have been caused by combustible items being placed too close to a heat source.
