Dedication of students and staff praised after GCSE results at St Richard Reynolds Catholic College are announced

By Richard Burke 25th Aug 2022

Leaders at St Richard Reynolds Catholic College have expressed their delight with its GCSE results. Almost half the grades were at grade 7 or above with more than one in ten results at grade 9.

A statement from the school says: "Our wonderful year 11 cohort, together with their parents and carers, has worked incredibly given their lockdown experience. They, with the help, support and guidance of a staff any school would be envious of, attained 33% grades 7-9 in English & Mathematics and 74% at grades 5-9. 71% of the cohort attained +5 GCSEs (including English & Mathematics) at grade 5 or above.

"Stand out results included Seamus Lydon who gained 10 grade 9s and 1 grade 8, Molly Fisher and Noah Morgan-McKean who each gained 9 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s, and Esteban Spencer and Max McCarthy who each gained 5 grade 9s and 6 grade 8s.

"There were also a number of real success stories involving students who had to overcome some significant challenges in order to get the grades they did.

"As the College begins its tenth year, it is so very pleasing to see that our students' academic outcomes at both A Level and GCSE are so strong and continue to improve, testament to the positive relationships established and nurtured across, and within, the College."

Richard Burke, Principal, said "Our students' success is a result of many factors, not least the dedication and hard work of our outstanding group of staff colleagues. We also recognise and appreciate the continued support of their parents and carers; acknowledging and highlighting the invaluable partnership that helps to generate such positive outcomes for young people."
