Green light for Twickenham offices to be turned into family homes
Council planners have given the go-ahead to plans to turn an Twickenham office building into six homes.
Fishguard & Goodwick United Ltd / Charles Richards has been given planning permission for the change of use at The Puzzle Academy at Messom Mews.
The scheme will see four, two-bedroom flats and houses, and two, three-bedroom flats created.
The flats will be built on the ground and first floors, while the houses would be two storeys.
The scheme will see no external alterations to the building, aside from the removal of company signs.
"Each of the six residential units would come forward with a single off-street car parking space, as retained from the extant office floorspace," the application said.
"As well as secure and covered cycle parking storage to accommodate the parking of two cycles, in accordance with policy and guidance set both borough-wide and London-wide in tandem with consideration of local context."
Five objections were made to the application, with the scheme criticised for not providing enough amenity space, the impact on parking, loss of privacy and the loss of office space.
But signing off on the plans, a council report said: "From the submitted floor plans it would appear that all habitable rooms benefit from windows of adequate size.
"A sunlight daylight report has been submitted which confirms rooms will achieve adequate illuminance in accordance with the BRE guidance.
"Given the existence of windows to each habitable room and the confirmation of illuminance achieved, it is not considered the council can object on these grounds."
