An independent Italian restaurant is up and running again after a lengthy closure.

La Piazza on Richmond Road, near Lebanon Park, formerly known as Topolli has opened after closing last March for the first lockdown.

Owner Rubik Mirzaians says he's been making a tiramisu each day since reopening and looks forward to restarting his jazz nights in the future.

"All the regulars are starting to come back," he told Twickenham Nub News.

"I have been in this location over 25 years but decided to change decor and style to a very authentic Mediterranean taps and cocktail bar with a big emphasis on charcoal grill dishes freshly made as per order.

"And most importantly it is a local community get together restaurant."

What's on the menu

Now to that other all-important issue of what's being served up.

Rubik has put together an extensive takeaway menu featuring pasta and risottos, grilled meals, wraps, desserts and drinks.

There's a 7oz homemade burger for £5 or £7 with chips; steak and chips for £10; halloumi and salad at £6 and deep fried whitebait for £5.

All pasta and risotto dishes are priced at £6.50. They include spinach and ricotta tortellini, risotto Palermo, marinara and primavera, spaghetti alla carbonara and penne Silician.

Wraps cost £5 and include barbecue or buffalo chicken, halloumi, German sausage, falafel and hummous.

And you can wash this down with Rubik's speciality tiramisu and a coffee.
