The Twickenham Riverside redevelopment has reached another milestone, with the concrete frame superstructure for the new Water Lane building complete.

Councillor Jim Millard, Deputy Leader of Richmond Council and Lead Member for Finance and Resources, said: "Completing the Water Lane frame is a landmark moment for Twickenham Riverside.

"The new riverside is continuing to take shape at incredible pace, bringing us closer to a vibrant new destination with welcoming public spaces, better access to the Thames, independent shops and businesses, and 45 new homes, with 50% genuinely affordable housing.

"It is fantastic to see the plans for this crucial scheme becoming a reality, and residents are beginning to get a real feel for how their new riverside destination will look."

Richmond Council said the superstructure has been completed on time, despite construction challenges caused by the summer heatwaves.

With the frame in place, the next stage at Water Lane will focus on completing the facade of the building and beginning work inside.

Scaffolding will be put up to enable work on the walls and roof, before the internal work gets under way.

Progress is also being made on the Wharf Lane building, where completion of the concrete superstructure is expected shortly.

Scaffolding is then scheduled to be put up ahead of façade installation.

Once complete, the long-awaited redevelopment will create a "revitalised riverside destination for residents and visitors to enjoy, reconnecting the town centre with the River Thames and giving Twickenham a new place to gather, relax and spend time by the water," said the Council.
