Emergency services were called to a fire at a residential property on Charles Road, Staines, near Heathrow Airport, on Friday (27 March) at 12.40pm.

Fire crews and ambulance, and police services attended the scene and the male occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fire and are carrying out a number of enquiries.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: "We are investigating the circumstances of a fatal house fire which occurred in Laleham earlier today (27 March).

"Officers were called to a residential property on Charles Road at around 12.40pm.

"Fire crews are also at the property and an investigation is underway.

"The male occupant at the property was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
