Morning travel misery as Twickenham commuters face train delays
By Nub News Reporter 3rd Nov 2026
Twickenham commuters face severe travel disruption this morning (Tuesday, 3 November) following a fault with the signalling system at New Malden.
The incident, reported at 7:07am today, has disrupted lines between Surbiton and Wimbledon, causing travel turmoil across key local routes.
National Rail confirmed that response teams are currently on site dealing with the issue, but trains are required to run at a reduced speed on one of the lines towards Wimbledon.
As a result, South Western Railway (SWR) train services running through the area, including services operating to and from London Waterloo via Shepperton, Kingston, and Richmond, may be delayed, revised, or cancelled at short notice.
National Rail said disruption is currently expected to continue until at least 10am.
In addition, services between London Waterloo and Hampton Court will not call at New Malden or Raynes Park while engineers work to resolve the issue.
Passengers are strongly advised to verify their travel plans using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner before setting out.
Those who decide not to travel or are unable to complete their journey due to cancellations are entitled to a full refund from their original point of purchase.
