The MP for Richmond, Sarah Olney and the MP for Twickenham, Munira Wilson, met with the Minister for the Department for Environmental and Rural Affairs Robbie Moore this morning (19 December).

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Sarah Olney said: "Good to meet DEFRA Minister Robbie Moore MP this morning with @munirawilson.

"Unfortunately, the Department is still refusing to rule out the Teddington DRA, but did commit to making sure Thames Water genuinely consult with our community."

Munira Wilson said: "Sarah Olney and I ensured Ministers and officials were fully briefed on the impact of the Teddington DRA on our local community.

"We have indeed been heard + will continue to keep pressing the case that the proposal must be taken off the table. Best value can't just be lowest cost."

This comes amidst controversial proposals by Thames Water to take water from Teddington Weir, transfer it through existing underground tunnels to the Lee Valley reservoirs, and then replace it with treated wastewater from Mogden Sewage Treatment Works.

Local people recently had an opportunity to provide their feedback and views on the scheme.
