Police have launched an investigation after large amounts of blood were found close to St Stephens Church on Sunday morning.

The area close to Marble Hill park, was cordoned off for several hours as crime scene experts were called in on what would normally be a busy time for services.

An area close to the front of the Church, on the Richmond Road was taped off, as was a nearby alleyway.

The source of the blood remains a mystery at this stage and the police have asked for information from witnesses, neighbours and vehicle dash cams.

The Metropolitan Police said: "At 9am on Sunday, January 29, police were called to St Stephens Church to a large amount of blood that was found around the area.

"A crime scene was put in place, and an investigation was carried out. The crime scene has now been closed.

"The origin of the blood remains unidentified and no arrests have been made."
