Twickenham's new bubble tea shop, Cupp, hosted its grand opening today (Friday 12 January).

The shop, which is located on King Street, was offering free boba tea to the first one hundred customers and 50% off all boba teas for everyone all day.

CUPP Bubble Tea is one of the UK's fast-growing bubble tea brands and the queue for today's opening was stretching down King Street.

The shop is owned by local residents Sabrina and Fan who are very excited to be a part of the neighbourhood in Twickenham.

Sabrina told Nub News: "We have lived locally in Twickenham for five years now so we know this neighbourhood well. I think we should have a really good future here."

The mother of two said: "We moved to England five years ago, I used to work in advertising in China but when we moved here I just stayed at home and looked after the children.

"One is 14 and at boarding school and the other goes to school locally so I have more time now.

"I was looking for something to do, something flexible, family comes first - my kids love bubble tea and they said: 'Mummy open a bubble tea shop'."

She added: "Bubble tea came from Asia so we have great experience with drinking bubble teas.

"When we were looking for the brand we tried a lot and we think Cupp is what we need because they use organic milk and fruit puree so the drinks are healthier and the fruit taste comes from real fruit."

"Their design is very Western and Twickenham isn't very Asian dominated so we wanted it to appeal to the people who live in Twickenham

"We're excited to be a part of the local neighbourhood, if there are any charity events or school events we would like to be a part of it. Our customers are school kids and we want to give back – I live a five-minute drive from here"

Emma Hartrey, who was representing Cupp Bubble Tea at the opening said: "It's really exciting to be able to branch out in Twickenham.

"We use fresh fruit puree and organic milk and it's great to see such a great turnout here."
