There was double the cause for celebration at Park Lane Stables this weekend as the team marked the Platinum Jubilee with tributes to their volunteers who were recognised with a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS).

The annual award was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen's coronation and is awarded for life.

The Park Lane team will be presented with the award by the Lord Lieutenant of London at a future event and will receive a glass crystal and certificate signed by the Queen.

Natalie O'Rourke, Proprietor of Park Lanes stables said: "In this whirlwind year for us so much of the attention has fallen on me, but Park Lane Stables wouldn't be the special place it is today without the invisible army of volunteers who stand by my side and make everything happen.

"From the hands-on volunteers who manage the day-to-day operations at the Stables, to the experts and trustees behind the scenes who have helped us rise to the challenges we've faced.

"I couldn't be more delighted that this special group of individuals and friends are now recognised for everything they do."

The Stables' weekend celebrations come after a remarkable 12 months which has seen its uncertain future during the UK lockdown become something of a distant memory, thanks to a remarkable campaign which raised over £1 million pounds.

Park Lane Stables are now in the final stages of upgrading the premises before the horses and volunteers will move back permanently from their temporary home at Manor Farm in Ham.
