PHOTO GALLERY: residents leave flowers on Amélie's bench on Twickenham Green

By The Editor 13th Aug 2021

Twickenham residents came to the green this weekend to pay their respects to the family of Sarah Everard.

A vigil and minute's silence organised by three local women was not able to go ahead.

Instead, flowers were left on the bench dedicated to Amélie Delagrange, the 22-year-old French student who was murdered on the green in 2004 by Levi Bellfield, who remains in jail for his crimes.

The bench has been turned into a stunning floral tribute and place where locals are visiting to hold moving conversations.

A crowdfunding page by the group Reclaim These Streets has now raised more than half a million pounds for women's charities just a day after it was launched.
