Professional photographer, Emma Durnford, is using her expert eye, skills and love of Richmond to support a community project to boost well-being and bring people together.

She has created a photo-montage of Richmond landmarks in order to raise funds for the Mortlake Community Association's 'Food with Friends' Project.

The Association has hosted several healthy food initiatives and, through their experience, they have recognised that sharing food is a powerful way of bringing people together.

Their community food projects achieve many benefits for the people who take part: improved access to healthy food; enhanced cookery skills; increasing confidence; and wide-reaching social benefits.

They are currently fundraising to support the development of the Food with Friends sessions and to help secure future plans.

The raised funds will enable the Association to deliver the 'cook and eat' sessions on a termly basis.

Additionally, it is hoped that more partnerships can be developed with local retailers/restaurants who might also sponsor the community food projects.

The longer-term goal is to establish a community café, providing healthy eating options at a low cost right in the heart of Mortlake, mimicking initiatives that operate in other parts of the Borough.

Professional photographer Emma, who is based in Teddington, is involved with a number of local charities and small businesses.

This is her third and most recent collaboration with a local charity within the Borough. She contributes a percentage of every print sale and over the past year and a half has raised £675 with a sell-out limited edition montage of Teddington supporting the Landmark Arts Centre.

To date she has raised £870 with her limited edition montage of Twickenham, sold in support of ETNA (East Twickenham Neighbourhood Association) and their Sensory Garden - editions are still available.

Her most recent artwork, sold in support of the Mortlake Community Association, is her most challenging project to date. There are so many places that could be featured that is has been difficult deciding which should be included.

Every image has been shot specifically for the project and the montage features 25 locations around the town - some familiar and some maybe not so familiar.

The limited edition comprises of just 100 prints (50cm square including the mount) and 25% of every sale will go to the Mortlake Community Association.

Each mounted print is presented with a numbered and signed certificate in a protective cellophane envelope for £100 or £135 in a black wooden frame.

Could this be the perfect original Christmas present? Go along to the Orleans House Gallery Christmas Shopping Weekend on December 4-5 between 10am and 5.00pm to see the montage and many other independent artists, designers and crafts people.
