Police confirm death at Twickenham Rugby Stadium

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed today that a death occurred at Twickenham Rugby Stadium last week.

The incident, which took place on Thursday involved a man who had fallen to his death.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called at 13:11hrs on Thursday, 14 September to reports of a man fallen at Twickenham Rugby Stadium.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

"The man, who was working at the venue, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The Health and Safety Executive has been notified."

A spokesperson for the RFU said: "Very sadly there was a tragic incident on Thursday afternoon that resulted in the death of a contractor working in the stadium.

London Ambulance Service attended the incident together with London Air Ambulance but were unable to resuscitate the individual.  

We are assisting the Police and other relevant authorities. "
