The Royal Barge Gloriana, which was built in Richmond, was spotted passing Swan Island in Twickenham this morning.

The pictures were posted by well-known local figure and river-goer CaptainQuack, who regularly publishes pictures of life on the Thames.

He tweeted: "The Royal Barge Gloriana passing Swan Island … making its way upstream towards Teddington Lock, possibly going all the way to Windsor for HM QE II State Funeral on Monday?"

A follower responded, saying: "The crew say they're headed for Windsor, but not all the way today."

The royal barge Gloriana was the lead vessel in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee river pageant in 2012.

She was famously constructed by Mark Edwards of Richmond Bridge Boathouses, who worked around the clock to get her ready.

The golden boat was inspired by 18th-century barges painted by the Italian artist Canaletto, and she has been used in several ceremonies since her June 2012 debut, including during the London Olympics.
