Raise a glass! Turk’s Head makes shortlist in Great British Pub Awards
The Turk's Head in St Margarets has made the shortlist in the Great British Pub Awards.
The team at the much-loved local and venue for comedy and music have beaten hundreds of pubs across the country to be named as a top six finalist in the best urban or city pub.
Twickenham MP, Munira Wilson, wished licensee Ollie Coulombeau and his team well for the event, which takes place in Manchester in September.
She said: "Exciting to see our very own Turk's Head in St Margarets shortlisted for the Great British Pub Awards 2023. A fantastic venue for music, comedy, sport and great food."
Ollie said the team were both 'honoured' and 'over the moon' at the recognition they have received.
The Fuller's pub is at the heart of the Twickenham community, particularly as a venue for regular gigs from The Jazz Sanctuary and stand-up from The Bearcat Club.
Editor of The Morning Advertiser, which organises the awards, Ed Bedington, said: "The great British pub is an institution to be proud of and we are proud to be able to honour and recognise some of the best businesses in the country.
"Our finalists have now been selected from hundreds of amazing entries from all over the UK.
"I am excited to visit the sites alongside my fellow judges and we look forward to revealing the winners in the autumn."
Earlier this year, the Turk's Head was also shortlisted in the Licensee of the Year Awards by the British Institute of Innkeepers (BII).
The pub made it into the top six pubs out of more than 300 that were nominated from across the country. And it was subsequently give the Sustainability Champion award from the BII.
