The Apple TV+ show has turned Richmond into a tourist hot spot with visitors from the USA and beyond keen to visit the locations featured across the show's three series.

Its success has delivered an economic uplift with walking tours of visitors regularly seen snaking across Richmond Green, surrounding lanes, the riverside, and Church Street, in Twickenham, which have been central to the plot lines.

Members of the cast, led by Jason Sudeikis, who plays a US coach brought to the UK to manager AFC Richmond – known as The Greyhounds - have spoken of their love for the area and become familiar faces.

And Ted Lasso's local, The Prince's Head pub – renamed the Crown & Anchor in the show – has become a hot spot for visitors.

Leading members of the cast, including Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, who is the show's co-creator and plays Coach Beard, are all recognised with Emmy nominations.

Also on the star-studded list are Hannah Waddingham, who plays the club owner Rebecca Welton and was a regular visitor to Richmond long before being cast, as well as Brett Goldstein, who is the foul-mouthed Roy Kent, and the magnificent Juno Temple.

Significantly, Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt, the cocky superstar who is seen to redeem himself has also been nominated. As a result, it means that all 10 original major cast members have now won the accolade of a nomination.

There are also nominations for other cast members, including Harriet Walter, Sarah Niles, Becky Ann Baker and Sam Richardson.

Ted Lasso has already won a total of eight Primetime Emmy Awards and is going for a perfect three-for-three record in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.

In a statement, Brett Goldstein, who has already taken home two Emmy trophies for his work on the show, said: "It makes me feel incredibly lucky, especially when it's in the company of genuine acting legends.

"Thanks as always to [Ted Lasso co-creators] Jason [Sudeikis], Bill [Lawrence], Brendan [Hunt] and Joe Kelly for inviting me onboard. I'm nothing without them and my fellow Greyhounds. What a ride this whole Lasso train has been, filled with magic. Thank you to the Television Academy for making life a dream."

Delighted Phil Dunster, who was at Wimbledon when he heard, posted a message on Instagra, saying: "Holy. Bloody. Hell. Thank you to the Television Academy for all the Ted Lasso love. This is such an incredible show to be involved in — full of joyful people who are really funny and very fit… none more so than my hunk of a castmate Brett Goldstein who I'm so proud to be nominated alongside."

The series came to a conclusion in late May, with a bittersweet finale that saw AFC Richmond pipped to the English Premier League championship title on the final day by Manchester City.

Ted was seen resigning from his position to return home to his family, having struggled with crippling anxiety and panic attacks the longer he had been away from America.

However, the finale hinted at the possibility of some sort of spin-off show with y Kent is now the manager of the team, while Juno Temple's Keeley Jones presented a plan for AFC Richmond's first women's team.
