England are world champions once again after a commanding 33–13 victory over Canada in front of a sell-out Allianz Stadium crowd, the largest ever for a women's rugby match.

The Red Roses, unbeaten since 2022, produced a performance brimming with pace, power and precision to lift the Women's Rugby World Cup trophy for the third time in history.

Canada struck first through winger Asia Hogan-Rochester, testing English nerves as the finalists clashed before a record crowd of 81,885.

However, England responded through Ellie Kildunne, the reigning World Player of the Year, who produced a moment of magic, stepping inside two defenders before racing clear from halfway to score.

From there, England's forwards took control. The rolling maul proved unstoppable, setting up tries for hooker Amy Cokayne and flanker Alex Matthews.

By half-time, England led 21–8, though the margin barely reflected their dominance.

The second half saw lock Abbie Ward crash over, before Matthews added her second try to seal the result.

Canada showed flashes of resilience, with Hogan-Rochester again scoring while England were down to 14 players, but the world's No.1 side were to dominant for the Canadians.

Player of the match Sadia Kabeya called the victory a dream come true.

The 23-year-old said: "It sounds amazing, it's a pinch-me moment, but it's been years and years in the making.

"We worked them really hard and did all the right things today. Thank you to everyone who came out – you are our 16th man on the pitch."

Captain Zoe Aldcroft said: "We smashed it out there today. I can't thank the girls enough for putting their bodies on the line.

"With 82,000 people here, we wanted to reinvent women's rugby – to inspire young girls to pick up a ball and believe they can do anything."

Canadian skipper Alex Tessier admitted her side struggled to cope.

"They pressured us at set-pieces, especially at scrum, and we couldn't quite find our rhythm," she said.

"We didn't panic, but we didn't manage to play our game and that cost us in the long run."

The final not only delivered England's 33rd consecutive victory, but also set a new world record attendance for women's rugby.

For the Red Roses, the triumph ends an 11-year wait for World Cup glory and caps off a home tournament that has seen record ticket sales and unprecedented levels of support.
