Harlequins Women have been given a huge boost with the return of England Red Roses star Shaunagh Brown.

The Club stalwart retired from the game last year, however she has agreed a new contract which will see her return to the pitch with an enhanced role at the club.

The former Red Rose, who has 30 Test caps to her name, will return to The Stoop next season and add to her 81 appearances in the Famous Quarters. With versatility across a number of positions in the pack, Brown's signing will bolster Harlequins' back-row options.

A highly decorated individual at Club and International level, Brown won four Six Nations Grand Slams as well as playing an integral role in Quins' victorious 2020/21 Allianz Premier 15s campaign.

On top of her role as part of the playing group, Brown will also join Harlequins' Centre of Excellence coaching team, bringing her skills and experience to the Club's Development Pathway.

Shaunagh said: "Harlequins has always been my rugby heart. I see where the game is heading and feel like I still have more to offer, so the opportunity to come back and show that, was one I couldn't turn down.

"The flame inside me has been firmly reignited and I can't wait to come out fighting for Quins in the new era of women's rugby."

Harlequins Head Coach Amy Turner, said: "Shaunagh has been central to many of this team's greatest moments. She has been a role model for women not just in rugby but across sport and will continue to be an asset to the Club.

"On the pitch we know the physicality she will bring to us, and having had some time coaching we're excited to see how she has developed as a leader. Alongside players like Jade (Konkel) and Emily (Scott), we're looking forward to seeing the impact these experienced heads will have on our younger squad members."

Brown's signing follows the confirmation of new contracts for Red Roses Lagi Tuima, Lucy Packer, Ellie Kildunne and Emily Scott, Scottish duo Jade Konkel and Sarah Bonar, and exciting talent Beth Wilcock, Rosie Dobson, Izzy Mayhew and Freya Aucken.
