The best places in the UK to grow old in have been revealed, by Lovett Care, out of 294 districts and Richmond has been named among the top five London boroughs.

However, coming in first place is south-east London borough Bromley, which also ranked 11th in the UK findings.

In second place was Richmond upon Thames, which ranked 18th nationally with a score of 75.2.

It had the highest environment and community and safety scores in the capital.

Only 2.89 per cent of adults in the south-west London borough report feeling lonely often or always, the lowest rate in London and second-lowest in England, and are said to be the second-longest living in the country.

Nearby Sutton came in third place in London's rankings, followed by Merton in fourth, and Kingston in fifth.
