Richmond Council launches new Cargo Bike Fair

Richmond Council has announced the launch of the Richmond Cargo Bike Fair, described as "a bold new celebration of cleaner, greener transport".
Taking place on Sunday 15 June, from 11am to 5pm at Old Deer Park, the free, family-friendly event promises a packed day of hands-on experiences, expert advice, and entertainment for all ages.
With the popularity of cargo bikes surging across London, the council says the fair will be the go-to event for anyone curious about making the switch – whether for school runs, local deliveries, or everyday errands.
Visitors will have the chance to test out a range of cargo bikes, speak to local retailers and cycling experts, and learn everything they need to know about bike maintenance, safety, and the benefits of pedal-powered transport.
Councillor Alexander Ehmann, Chair of Richmond Council's Transport and Air Quality Services Committee, said: "Cargo bikes can be truly life changing. That's why we want to put them in the hands of more and more residents and businesses.
"Whether taking the kids on the school run or shifting heavy goods - these bikes are the Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) of the bike world and at a considerably lower price point than their automotive competitors, too.
"I'm delighted to welcome the community to the inaugural Richmond Cargo Bike Fair, where we'll showcase the many benefits of cargo bikes. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just curious, there'll be something for you.
"This fair builds on Richmond Council's commitment to active travel – from our Try Before You Bike offers to residents and businesses through our Good Move Scheme to cargo bike parking bays and the OurBike community hire scheme. We're determined to make it easier than ever to go car-free for local journeys."
