School streets to park views: Public consultations closing next week near Twickenham

From new school streets to feedback from young people on parks and open spaces, here is a round up of all the public consultations in and around Twickenham closing next week.

1. New School Street at St James's Primary School

The Council proposes to make Stanley Road a school street (credit: Richmond Council).

Richmond Council say that after an informal consultation, which opened in March of this year, it proposes a new School Streets trial at St James's Primary School.

The proposed hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8am to 9am and 2pm to 4pm, term time only.

Residents will have an opportunity to comment on the times in the consultation.

The Council say that the layout of the restrictions are intended to create a safer and more pleasant environment in a zone which is most heavily used on the approach to the school.

2. Improve entrance to Hampton Hill Junior School

There is a Council consultation on enhancing pedestrian safety outside Hampton Hill Junior School (credit: Richmond Council).

Richmond Council is seeking views on a proposal to enhance pedestrian safety outside the entrance to Hampton Hill Junior School on St James's Avenue.

The Council say in recent months there has been at least one reported road safety incident involving a school pupil and vehicle at this location. 

To address the issue, it is proposing a package of measures aimed at creating a safer environment for children, parents, and pedestrians.

3. Feedback from young people on parks and open spaces

Richmond Council's park team is looking for feedback from young people in the borough about parks and open spaces.

Building on from its 2023 consultation, the Council wants to build on ideas to make parks and open spaces "more welcoming, fun, and accessible for young people."
