A seal was spotted in Twickenham today.

It was seen swimming upstream towards Teddington from near Radnor Gardens.

Twitter user Captain Quack posted pictures and gave a few insights for future seal spotting.

"Look out for the gulls circling close above the water, they are a good pointer for where it might pop up," he wrote.

"Another tip for spotting it: it makes a fair amount of waves as it swims, and you can see and follow them even as it swims under the surface.

"Happy #seal spotting!"

There have been numerous sightings of a seal in the Thames locally, and it always draws enormous excitement.

Earlier this year a seal was seen in the water just outside Marble Hill Park, fishing for a meal.

Our sister site's video of a blubbery seal making its way over Richmond Lock has been viewed more than 25,000 times on Twitter.

Some people speculate that it is the same seal that visits the area and the hashtag #twickerseal has been used to share viewings of it.
