Seven summer events at Strawberry Hill House & Garden

Strawberry Hill House & Garden in Twickenham has a range of events lined up for this summer.
From the shade of Walpole's 18th-century Gothic Revival castle to the sunshine of the Grade II-listed historic gardens, visitors are invited to roll out a picnic blanket for five unforgettable evenings of live music, late openings, and theatrical fun, say Strawberry Hill House & Garden.
Faery Trail Fun for kids - Starting Saturday, 24 May
Little ones can enjoy magical Faery Trails in the house and gardens. Hunt for fairy doors and houses hidden throughout the grounds, wander the woodland trail, and explore the secret walled gardens.
Discoveries await under gnarled oaks and tucked beneath bushes — all lovingly designed and carved by a very talented pixie.
Trail guides are available for £2 in the café, and once completed, children can return to collect a fairy treat.
After discovering all the fairy homes, head inside the house (free for under-5s, £7.25 for ages 6–16) and search for faeries throughout the enchanting chambers of Strawberry Hill House.
Children are encouraged to dress in their finest faerie finery and snap a magical #FaerieSelfie to share with the realm!
Summer Live Music Late - Thursday, 19 June
This event features live music from Apollo's Cabinet. Visitors can begin the evening with a self-guided tour of the house before heading outside for live music and Pimm's — with the first glass complimentary.
Guests are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the evening with friends as Apollo's Cabinet brings to life the songs of Kitty Clive, a close friend of Horace Walpole.
A special summer offer is available for those who pre-order a Roots & Berries picnic hamper.
Celebrating Pride at Strawberry Hill - Wednesday, 25 June
Strawberry Hill House joins the celebration of Pride with a special LGBTQ+ tour.
This guided experience explores Horace Walpole's identity and sexuality through the lens of his correspondence with friends and acquaintances, offering fresh perspectives on his home and collection.
As visitors are led through the house, the guide reveals how Walpole used architecture, design, and antiquarianism to craft a unique and radical identity.
Guests will also discover how Walpole's prolific and often revealing letters illuminate his colourful social world.
Strawberry Hill Community BBQ - Sunday, 29 June
Strawberry Hill House is teaming up with the Strawberry Hill Residents' Association to celebrate two special anniversaries — the 15th anniversary of the house's reopening and the Association's Diamond Jubilee.
Together, they will host the neighbourhood Strawberry Hill Community BBQ.
Visitors can bring their own picnic or enjoy barbecue fare provided by Roots & Berries.
The day will also include children's activities, live music, and a kids' entertainer — making it the perfect family outing.
Adult tickets are just £6, with free entry for children.
Summer Candlelit Lates - Thursday, 17 July or Thursday, 21 August
Enjoy a self-guided evening tour of the house, followed by a complimentary glass of Pimm's and a relaxed evening with friends in the gardens of Strawberry Hill House.
Picnics are welcome.

Strawberry Hill House & Garden brings open-air theatre to Twickenham this summer with Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.
Performed by the renowned troupe The HandleBards, this fast, funny, and fearless take on the Elizabethan romcom promises riotous energy, chaos, and plenty of laughter.
Pasadena Roof Orchestra - Sunday, 24 August
Rounding off the summer is the internationally acclaimed Pasadena Roof Orchestra, who will bring the golden age of the 1920s and 1930s to life in a magical open-air concert from 4pm to 7pm.
