Sixth former tastes gold at Physics Olympiad

Sixth form student Richard Paterson has been awarded a 'Top Gold' accolade in the British Physics Olympiad, one of only 187 students in the UK and 2,500 students from China.

Richard, who was placed in the top 6% of entrants, will now receive an invitation from the Olympiad office in Oxford to take part in a Stage 2 challenge which will be used to select students for the UK team to take part in the international competition.

Specialist Resource Provision Update

A new specialist resource provision (SRP) was opened at Teddington School in September 2022 to cater for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

The school has received overwhelming positive feedback from parents, staff and external agencies and last week received a visit from Jonty Clarke, of the Beckmead Trust, which manages a family of schools specifically for students with special educational needs.

The trust is keen to learn from Teddington School's successful implementation of the SRP as it looks to increase its offerings in more schools across London.

The SRP is always on the lookout for any type of board game or puzzle to add to its collection for the various clubs it runs, for any residents who are seeking to give away any lying around at home, they are encouraged to drop them off at the school's reception.

Teddington School's Specialist Resource Provision opened in September 2022.

Bugsy Malone show dates to kick start next week!

Rehearsals for the school's production of Bugsy Malone are coming along strongly with show dates just around the corner.

Doors will open from 6.30pm for a 7pm start, with shows running from Tuesday 31 January to Friday 3rd Feb.

Tickets can be purchased via Parent Pay at £6 each. Special packages are also available for a premium rate ticket at £25 which includes extra elbow room and a bottle of wine or two beers. The school is offering eight pairs per show night.

Students have been hard at work during rehersals with show dates for Bugsy Malone to begin next week.

Science teacher set to run London Marathon in support of Alzheimer's Research UK

Teddington School's Head of Science, Mr Taylor, will be taking part in the 2023 London Marathon in support of Alzheimer's Research UK to raise awareness for a charity that provides support for families dealing with the effects of Dementia.

The charity is close to Mr Taylor's heart having recently had a family member diagnosed with early onset Dementia, and the science teacher has already raised over £1,300 of his £2,200 target.
