The Shredquarters in Twickenham, run by mother-son duo Sandra and Tom, has rebranded this week as Zenith Fitness.

After three years, the owners decided to take full control of the business and establish their own fully independent gym under a new name.

Sandra told Twickenham Nub News: "We thought it was time to go out on our own and become fully independent. It's the same ownership, the same team, same location – so the only difference is the brand and the fact we are fully independent."

Since opening on Brewery Lane, the duo has delivered hundreds of classes including HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), boxing, yoga, and the slower-paced LIFT sessions, now named Z-Lift, focused on building strength and improving movement.

More recently, the gym has launched new offerings such as kids' classes for 10–15-year-olds, and mother and baby sessions.

"They've only been going for three to four weeks and we're already getting 6–7 mums with their babies," said Sandra.

"It's lovely because it's very difficult if you don't have childcare to get out and do anything, particularly when it comes to fitness.

"So being able to bring the baby along makes a real difference – and it's quite social too, bringing mums together, which is really nice."

Zenith Fitness has also seen several of its members take part in this year's Turf Games London Summer Festival, with four teams comprising 24 members representing the gym.

Sandra added: "Turf Games give people a purpose, something to train towards.

"Not everyone wants that, which is fine, but for those who do, it's a great goal to work towards."

Thanks to growing popularity and inclusivity, Zenith's strength classes have increased from six per week to 15.

This is partly due to their suitability for all ages and fitness levels, with some members over the age of 70 regularly taking part.

"They are lower intensity," explained Sandra, "and concentrate on strength and technique with a lot more personal trainer input."
