Strawberry Hill House stars as faerie realm in Netflix’s The Sandman season 2

Strawberry Hill House, the 18th-century Gothic villa in Twickenham, takes centre stage in the second season of Netflix's hit series The Sandman, now streaming worldwide.
Adapted from Neil Gaiman's bestselling graphic novels, The Sandman follows Morpheus, the King of Dreams, as he navigates a universe steeped in myth, magic and mortal lives.
This season, Strawberry Hill House transforms into the otherworldly realm of Faerie, a place both 'beautiful' and 'unsettling' in equal measure.
Several key scenes were filmed in some of the House's most iconic rooms.

The Tribune, once Walpole's treasure cabinet inspired by Florence's Uffizi Gallery, becomes the bedchamber of Lady Nuala, a faerie courtier to Queen Titania.
Its jewel-like splendour symbolises Nuala's captivity, a bird trapped in a gilded cage, surrounded by beauty but deprived of freedom.
The Long Gallery, with its rich crimson damask walls, fan-vaulted ceiling, and gothic tracery recesses, serves as the setting for Cluracan's lavish revels, a perfect reflection of his carefree excess.
Meanwhile, The Round Room, featuring a stained-glass curved bay window and Robert Adam's intricately carved fireplace, is Cluracan's private parlour.

Viewers can spot Strawberry Hill House in Episodes 9 ("The Kindly Ones") and 10 ("Long Live the King") of the series.
This summer, visitors can step into the magical world of The Sandman at Strawberry Hill House, open daily from 11am to 4pm until 7 September.
The house, created by Walpole in the 18th century as a theatrical home of stories and imagination, continues to inspire artists, writers and now filmmakers alike.

From 12 to 14 September, Strawberry Hill House will once again be transformed for the annual Strawberry Hill Flower Festival.
This year's theme, The Faery Tale Castle, will feature more than 50 of the UK's leading floral artists creating spellbinding, foam-free displays inspired by folklore and fairy legends, echoing the faery magic brought to life on screen in The Sandman.
