The independent charity and award winning cancer information and support centre, the Mulberry Centre, based at West Middlesex University Hospital is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge this year.

The Mulberry Centre is the only only information and support centre of its kind in the local area, offering free services to anyone affected by cancer, regardless of their postcode.

From the moment of diagnosis through treatment and post-discharge, they support people and their families, including carers and those bereaved.

From midday 28th November to midday 5th December, every Big Give online donation that someone makes, will be doubled.

Each donation received will have twice the impact, as every pound donated will be matched by a 'Big Give Champion' and the individuals who have already pledged to the campaign.

The Mulberry Centre aims to raise £4,500 in online donations in just one week.

Any amount given, large or small, will significantly improve the wellbeing of people affected by cancer.

The Mulberry Centre hopes to count on community support on #GivingTuesday – Tuesday 28th November - when the campaign week goes live.

Donated funds will provide a range of free services and tailored cancer support to individual needs, helping people just like Sacha:

Sacha said: "I accessed The Mulberry Centre services after my chemo and radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer had finished and I was able to reflect on the difficult year I had experienced, I recognised that I would benefit from some emotional support to help heal my mind.

"I was suffering from very high anxiety levels when I first visited the centre, and the services and treatments offered to me have had a huge impact on my mental recovery.

"I benefited from six reiki/reflexology sessions, one urgent counselling session and six planned counselling sessions. The reiki/reflexology helped me to relax my incredibly tense body and gave me the environment and tools to release some of the physical anxiety that I was holding on to.

"The staff and volunteers offer a safe environment for people who are seeking support; they offered me an anchor to keep my emotions grounded and a safe space to be sad and feel vulnerable."
