A new BBC drama centred on the true story of the Brink's-Mat depot robbery at Heathrow in 1983, which netted £26 million in gold, features many landmarks and streets from the borough.

The robbery by a gang of six armed men was intended to target foreign currency, however they escaped with three tons of gold, making it the biggest crime of its type in the world at the time.

The star-studded cast is led by Hugh Bonneville, Jack Lowden and Dominic Cooper, while Peter Davison, a Richmond local, also features as Assistant Commissioner Gordon Stewart.

Lowden, who plays gangster Kenneth Noye, can be seen strolling down Church Street, Twickenham, which is presented as a street in St Helier, Jersey, in episode 2.

While Hugh Bonneville, who plays DCI Brian Boyce, is seen in Heron Square, at the bottom of Whittaker Avenue on the Richmond riverside.

Also featured in the series is the old Santander/Abbey National bank building at the top of Church Street, Twickenham, as well as York House, the historic building which is home to Richmond Council.

Other scenes were filmed in Station Road, Hampton, and Ship Lane, Mortlake.

The filming, who is supported by Film Richmond, took place between April and June last year.

Richmond Council has worked to ensure that this popularity is put to good use by asking production companies who use the borough as a filming location to contribute to charitable causes within the borough. In recent years these charitable donations are thought to have raised in excess of £100,000 for local charities and organisations.

The borough has been used for numerous films and TV dramas, including Finding Alice (ITV), Bridgerton (Netflix), Ted Lasso (Apple TV+), Unforgotten (ITV) and The Thames: Britain's Great River with Tony Robinson (Channel 5), Gangs of London (Sky Atlantic), The Bodyguard (BBC), Fleabag (BBC Three/Amazon Studios), Unforgotten (ITV), The Great (All4) and Peter Rabbit 2 (Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation).
