Five award-winning short films from independent west London filmmakers will be screened at a new film festival in Whitton later this month.

The TW2 Film Festival will take place at Whitton Library on Saturday, 26 September, featuring films spanning horror, sci-fi, thriller, action and drama.

The event has been organised by the Friends of Whitton Library in association with Zondigital and is the brainchild of award-winning director Mark P Simmons.

The festival aims to showcase the work of independent filmmakers from across west London.

Films being screened include Plague UK, which has won eight festival awards and follows the last two people in the UK surviving a fatal virus.

Disquiet, directed by Jeffrey Salklid, explores mobile phone addiction and has won two festival awards.

Mark Simmons' The Bounty Killers, about the most wanted man in the universe attempting to prove his innocence, has won 15 festival awards, including at the London Film Festival and Birmingham Film Festival.

The Bomb, directed by Martin Richards, follows a bomb disposal expert attempting to save London.

The festival will also feature The Count, a new, as-yet-unreleased film jointly directed by Mark Simmons and C S Schalbroek.

The film follows a vampire attempting to open a pub in Hounslow.

There will also be Q&A sessions with Simmons and fellow directors.

Doors open at 1:30pm, with the festival starting at 2pm. Tickets cost £5 and are available through here or on the door, subject to availability.
