Today – Pop-up vaccination clinic offering jabs amid rising Covid-19 infections
The NHS will be hosting a pop-up vaccination clinic today – Thursday – at the Council's York House headquarters.
Demand was so high at a similar recent clinic at the same venue that the team ran out of jabs.
The vaccination and information and vaccination event will be at York House, Twickenham, TW1 3BZ from 1pm through to 7pm today.
Anyone who is hesitant to have the vaccination because they have questions or concerns can also come along and discuss their worries and facts with our expert NHS team in a private and confidential area.
Council leader, Gareth Roberts, said: "We want to make it as easy as possible for people to have their vaccination.
"We are currently focusing our efforts on those areas that generally have a lower take-up. But please be reassured that there are other locations in the borough that people can just walk in.
"We don't want to turn anyone away who is keen to have the jab. So, we have extended the next Twickenham programme, to ensure that all those who turn up can have their vaccination.
"Please remember, having the vaccine is an easy step for each of us to take to protect ourselves and those around us. If you haven't had your vaccine yet and have questions, NHS health experts (including GPs and family clinicians) will be at York House next week to help.
"And if you are due jabs two or three, please use this opportunity to have your next dose locally."
Anyone aged 12+ who is due their first, second, or booster vaccination will be able to have their jab throughout the day. No appointments are required, and people can just walk in.
Most children aged 12 to 17 can get a second dose from 12 weeks after they had their first dose.
If a child has tested positive for COVID-19 and is not at high risk from COVID-19, they need to wait 12 weeks before they can have a COVID-19 vaccine. This starts from the date of their positive PCR test.
Those aged 18+ can get a second dose from 8 weeks after their first dose. Those aged 16 + can get a booster vaccination from 3 months after their 2nd dose. If you are aged 18+ and have had COVID-19 recently, you need to wait 28 days before you can have a vaccination.
