A vigil will be held this evening on Twickenham Green in the latest in a series of regular events to remember all of the women killed by men.

The event is organised by the Women's Equality Party and is held at the beginning of each month.

The focal point for the vigil is the memorial bench for Amélie Delagrange.

Amélie was a French tourist visiting Twickenham in 2004 when she was murdered by serial killer Levi Bellfield.

Jill Lorimer, the head of campaigns for the Richmond group, said: "The total number of women killed by men – or where men are the primary suspect - this year has risen from 110 to 115 since we last held the vigil.

"Has there been any press coverage? Have you heard any outrage?

"Please meet us on Twickenham Green at 6pm to demand that this social epidemic is taken as seriously as it would be if it were women killing men."

The issue has taken on a greater significance in the wake of the murder in London of Sarah Everard by service police officer, Wayne Couzens.

The first of these vigils took place on September 2nd and featured a small police presence.
