Twickenham: Diversions to be implemented next month as London Road Roundabout works continue

Transport for London (TfL) has announced road closures next month as work continues to improve the north and south islands of the A316 London Road Roundabout.
In an update letter to residents, TfL explained that diversions will be necessary to ensure safety as work continues to the north and south directions of the roundabout.
The closures will begin on Saturday, 5 April 2025, and are set to finish on 17 April.
Julie Lewington, Head of Projects and Programmes for TfL, wrote: "For safety reasons, whilst these works are ongoing, a temporary north/south directional closure of the roundabout will be required.
"Traffic on London Road (north/south movements) will be diverted to the adjacent roundabouts on the A316, at either Whitton Road or St Margarets Road.
"The east/west movements on the A316 will be retained at all times.
"We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience that this may cause. We have tried to limit overall disruption to the network by carrying out these works during the school holiday period."
Following these works, TfL will begin constructing a new toucan crossing on the A316 by Cole Park Road on Tuesday, 22 April.
Later in the year, further improvements will include repaving works, resurfacing of the carriageway, and new planting.
So far, TfL has completed works on the central roundabout on London Road, which will allow for the installation of new toucan crossings on three arms of the roundabout, improving pedestrian movements and safety for vulnerable road users.
The transport network also stated that the installation of new signage on the roundabout will help improve journey times once fully operational.
