Twickenham: Fears for Loch Fyne building

Residents fear for the Loch Fyne restaurant building, which closed during the pandemic, and is now becoming an eyesore.
The fish restaurant in Hampton Road was enormously popular with Twickenham residents and families, particularly those with children at the nearby St James RC school.
However, the landmark building on a prime site has been abandoned by Loch Fyne and is now looking very run down.
The South Twickenham Councillor and leader of the Greens on Richmond Council, Richard Bennett, tweeted: "Loch Fyne in Twickenham has been 'returned' by Greene King to its landlords.
"It is becoming an eyesore and rapidly acquiring that look of dereliction so beloved of developers."
The Government changed the planning rules earlier this year to make it easier for landlords and developers to convert properties to residential without going through formal planning permission.
Richmond Council has outlined its own plans to block this policy across the borough, however it can be overruled by the government.
Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill is owned by Greene King. It said: "It is always a difficult decision to close a restaurant, sadly, it was no longer viable. We would like to thank all our customers who have visited us in Twickenham over the years."
