Twickenham MP Munira Wilson has today (2 February) called on ministers to address the challenges facing community pharmacies.

This follows the closure of two Boots Pharmacies in Hampton.

She said in parliament today: "In recent months Boots has closed two out of three pharmacies in the Hampton area in my constituency.

"This has left Hampton North which is one of the most deprived wards in the London Borough of Richmond without a single pharmacy with elderly residents and those with long term conditions have to walk a lot further than twenty minutes to be able to access a pharmacy.

"Local GPs tell me it is just not viable to set up a community pharmacy facilitiy.

She added: "Will the government review the pressures on community pharmacy and look at the community pharmacy framework so we can make this initiative work and take the pressure off GPs."

Richmond Council previously offered some reassurance to those affected by the closures which you can read here.
