Twickenham police arrest two men after fence-leaping chase through residents' gardens

Police arrested a man last week after he fled his car on Hampton Road in Twickenham and ran off into Strawberry Hill to evade officers.

A second man was also arrested, both for Possession with Intent to supply Class A drugs.

The runaway suspect led to the brief closure of Hampton Road, near Twickenham Green.

Residents reported that police were knocking on their doors to ask whether they had seen a man in their garden or jumping over their fence.

Police told Nub News: "On the 23rd June 2021 at around 2.30PM two males were arrested for Possession with Intent to supply Class A drugs.

"Officers came across a suspicious vehicle in Hampton Road, Twickenham.

"The driver attempted to evade police, and when signalled to stop vehicle made off at speed before the passenger decamped and was chased by officers.

"Soon after the driver was detained for a search.

"A second male was also detained by officers in and after a search of the area a large amount of Class A drugs was located and both males were arrested for the offence of Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

"Both suspects have been bailed and investigation remains ongoing."
